Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2 June 2026
This is an initial version and may be updated before public launch.
This Policy explains what data YouTube Insights collects, why, and your rights. We aim to collect as little as possible and to be honest about how AI processing works.
1. Who we are
YouTube Insights is the data controller for the personal data described here. For privacy matters, contact us at contact@youtubeinsights.app.
2. What we collect
Account data: your email address and, optionally, a display name.
Usage data: the video links you submit, the articles generated for you, your credit balance and processing history, and in-app preferences (language, theme).
Technical data: basic logs and security information needed to operate the Service.
3. How AI processing works
To generate an article, the video’s transcript and our prompts are sent to Google’s Gemini API. We use the paid Gemini API tier, under which Google does not use your content to train its models. Your account credentials are never sent to the AI.
4. Why we use your data (legal bases)
To provide the Service and your account (performance of a contract); to keep the Service secure and prevent abuse (legitimate interest); and to comply with legal obligations. We do not sell your personal data.
5. Processors we use
Supabase (database, authentication), Google (Gemini AI processing), Fly.io (processing workers, EU region), Vercel (web hosting) and Resend (transactional email). These providers process data on our behalf under appropriate agreements.
6. Cookies
We use only essential cookies: to keep you signed in and to remember your chosen language and theme. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
7. Data retention
We keep your account and articles for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your personal data within a reasonable period, except where the law requires us to retain certain records.
8. Your rights
Wherever you are, you can request access to your data, correction, deletion, a copy of your data, or object to certain processing. EU/EEA and UK residents have these rights under the GDPR/UK GDPR. To exercise them, contact contact@youtubeinsights.app. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
9. International transfers
Some providers may process data outside your country. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
10. Security
We use industry-standard measures (encryption in transit, access controls, row-level security). No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data.
11. Children
The Service is not intended for children under the age of digital consent in their country. We do not knowingly collect their data.
12. Changes & contact
We may update this Policy; material changes will be announced. Questions: contact@youtubeinsights.app.
